I just wanted to throw in my two cent as I've been trying to focus solely on helping the FTT over the Rare's List - and the effect here is starting to echo over there. I have personal frustrations with the list right now, but are trying to put those aside right now.
The speculation has already become damaging. While I'm not expecting anything to happen over night, I question - heavily - why this issue is being brought up with such precedence right now, when there are far more important things to attend to (IMO)
Removing the gaps list all together isnt going to solve anything. I fear it will have the same effect demand has now.
"Lolita goes for Sorb"
"The gap between two advents is an 09 rare"
Even if you remove it, people are so use to it, and use it so often, that it will continue to be used as is.
I have not caught up with the conversation but I question why this is suddenly a primary issue right now. Especially when both OMGSR moving up hasnt been sorted - the "people voting lowest" issue hasnt been sorted (my own opinion withdrawn). Right now, it feels like this thread is going around and around in circles, and nothing concrete is being done.
If the gaps are less than first suspected, then it would make more sense to change it, rather than remove.
If the gaps list was inaccurate to begin with, it should have never been made. As soon as you put something on paper - especially in a thread like this - people are going to take it as fact, and start using it.
But the damage is already done, and at this point, I believe it's too far gone to reverse.
Regardless of what happens, something concrete needs to happen beyond discussion, as speculation like this is horrible for trading, and trying to aid other people in trading. It doesn't give a definite to work off of - it doesnt even give a range, merely, "something will happen at some point" followed by radio silence - and you end up with "xyz might happen to pet" or "abc gap is being reduced" echoing around and around without it actually being done.
Which, from that I have personally seen, is more harmful to these types of threads than any sort of false demand - though false demand certainly doesnt help anything. If anything, this type of speculation creates even more false demand, which only serves to drive up greed faster, as people believe they can get more now simply based on what could happen in the future.
There are so many issues going on within the Rare's list right now, I think you (everyone, as a collective, not singular persons) need to focus on one issue at a time, try get it sorted, before try and tackle other things.
At this point, I'm beginning to wonder if Rare's List is too far gone to properly fix.
