*DISCONTINUED* Rares List Guide (1 March 2019)

We could all try and work together on a new rarity only list? Since there's been no updates on the one that was in progress.
We can do a google doc, so we can all edit and collaborate on it too.

There was a lot of talk of reforming the list, and I get that placing the UR Peach is priority right now but I'm still curious on how the other issues are being handled. CS trade economy is falling apart, List Wise.

This. This is a big issue right now. Demand is insane, you have pets like the orange cerb going for outrageous prices and if you don't have high demand list pets (more specifically store list pets) it's becoming damn near impossible to trade. I've noticed a huge up-swing in people looking to trade pets from the list off the list also, that isn't very important but I've seen it quite a lot recently. People seem more interested in trading with pets that don't involve the list right now from most things I see.

I've also noticed the trade economy declining in huge amounts, even with the 18th. Normally this time of year is quite good for trading with more users engaged after the 18th, looking to trade for pets they want/need for their collections. (or whatever else they want them for.) The thing is, though, this decline in list trades (or so it seems, I suppose) has been happening for a while. I thought by now things would be a little better off, but just looking at trade forums, it's kind of, well, dead. List trades are becoming insanely hard to complete, and as I mentioned above, unless you have high demand pets you can nearly forget trading lists. Demand right now is just overthrowing everything known, I was very nervous on a rarity only list but think it's getting to the point where if something isn't done soon, list trading will get worse. The list is just not doing well right now and people are taking things like store pets and saying "Well, I can trade x store pet for your zebra!" type of stuff when realistically, the store (I'm talking about lists, just to remind you) pets are not worth the zebra, non, or whatever else. The only reason I personally ever trade "above list value" for store pets is because if I want a store pet on the list I am given no other choice. Sure, I can wait months and years for someone who doesn't trade by demand to trade with me but the likelihood is so low that it isn't worth waiting. Most people don't have the patience to get a completely fair trade for their UR flower pot, or UR apple, for example. At this point I've just traded for pets and said, "Well, if this pace of raising demand keeps up, might as well get it now."

I hope something is done soon, I'm tired of this ridiculous demand that is completely taking just overpay and creating a whole new animal with it. And I did see something here about "It takes one person to raise demand just by their words", and I can't agree more. I've completely stopped using the FTT unless the trade is not list related because the thread is so run by demand that it isn't worth trying to ask for a legitimate answer. I just ask people I know are knowledgeable in list trades at this point since your average CS user is usually not entirely knowing of pet worth and more concerned about demand. (And I'm not saying this is everyone, and I'm also not saying these people know better, because some simply don't. They just read "Joker = 2 nons demand wise" in someones trading thread, therefore they now will think that's the value even though it isn't. So, when people mentioned this I believe earlier in the thread, there ya go. Solid example.)

Couldn't agree more. The word of ONE person sets the mindset for everyone. While I do agree that the Store pets (Raven, cerb, etc.) go for crazy amounts, there are only a limited amount of them. They're never coming back to stores or 18. Though it does make me worried for the future.

Just cause they are rarer it doesn’t mean people can charge crazy amounts for them....I agree with everything about demand. If I ever get a raven, I’m sorry I’m valueing it what it’s worth on the list not what demand wants for it.....demand is ruining this site imo.

some People use the list like it's actually the CS rarity guide. The store pets are becoming more rare every second.. isnt kind of a hassle to like move up the store pets every time? I mean, of course they don't have to but demand is crazy! In 2025 If CS is still here, the pets would be REALLY rare. They aren't going to be rereleased.. Sunbacks, Ur tiger dogs are. So maybe one point the store pets may be rarer than really rare pets now?

Another VR that has been on my mind is the May Lioness.
Has there been any recent trades showing how much people have paid for theirs?

With the lot of pets that need to be discussed/rediscussed, is it possible to put a "to-do" list on the front
page of what we plan on discussing? It may reduce the number of users asking about a certain pet being added.

Those pets aren’t that rare to be on the list. The dragon isn’t, the August pps and lionesses aren’t either. They just aren’t that rare, only just inflated demand. Why it appears hard to get them is something I repeat over and over:
People expect overpay no matter what now.
That is the summed up explanation of trading here on CS. People inflate demand because they expect overpay, in everything. Not just overpay, either, but the highest overpay they can see. I had a perfectly nice overpay for a white dragon malk canceled because someone offered a just under gap mainlist. That’s not my first nor last time that will happen with the last few rares list pets I’m seeking, and many others have experienced the same.

I’m really hoping a rarity only list will fix it, but at this point? I honestly really don’t think it will.

I find that people want overpay, but aren't as willing to give overpay. So it's just a huge problem, the whole thing really. The pretty pets are also the ones with the highest demand, ofc.

But it's not just the store pets who are being affected.

I saw a post on tumblr the other day that said something along the lines of "A Non-Dog isn't even worth a Non" And its sad because it's true. List trading is falling apart because of demand, but not just because of the store pets. The other list pets who have earned their placement are being deemed "unpopular" and therefore "not worth much". I'm not talking about Grinners, Pink Septembers, Green Toxic or fruit. Things that have had struggling demand for years. I'm talking about the dogs on the seventh tier, the 09 UR dog, the Non Dogs, the Sorbets. The things that have had stable demand for such a long time but now are only stepping stones for fodder in getting the store pets and high demand list.

It's falling apart and a reform needs to come quickly or else the economy- no the game is going to fall apart. The Rare's List needs update more than it needs add ons and additions. It needs to address these concerns quickly before all the older players either side with "not worth fixing, I got my collection" and "might as well quit."

We can't leave CS in this state for the newbies that are flooding in. It won't be fun for them, CS won't be fun for anyone. Everyone should have the chance to reach their dream pet without having to give up their entire collection for one animal.

Oh, yeah, I'm aware this isn't just store pets. I think I saw that tumblr post though, not entirely sure. I think the fact that you can't tier swap (as you talked about the 7th tiers) most the time anymore is pure ridiculous. Another thing, I've seen the nons suddenly go from getting fair trades to going for underpay because they "don't have good demand" over the past little while. Since when did that become a thing? Are people simply valuing nons as a tier swap for a raven dog? Because that is what it seems to me. As you said, pets that did have stable demand are just fodder for high demand pets. Quite sad, really.

I was thinking the same exact thing on behalf of the game falling apart. While this isn't an official guide, most players use it. Especially players who would like to achieve a dream pet. And as you said, new players won't find it fun. Old players won't find it fun. I usually enjoy CS myself, but the current trading status is just too ridiculous. It isn't fun to trade, at least right now, and at least for me. New players are also surrounded by so much to learn, does an unstable list and trading community help that? I'd think not.

Do you think that the demand of the cerbs right now is okay though? Should a september list go for two nons and a low main go for five? I am aware they are old, however this is simply unacceptable. The exact reason this is such an issue is exactly what you said. The future. If these pets are going for this much now, what will they go for in just two years? That's pretty scary to think about the fact that these pets are getting this much now.

Yeah, even if the reason it was rare at one point was because of a hoard it still seems like they're very hard to find. This was trade I sent out for it just today, and the person declined because they paid more for it. If they paid more, even as much as 3 09 rares, that's the amount 1st tier Advents go for, so it would make sense to put the Tess Dragon on the list.
I haven't had much experience with the May Lioness, so I can't really comment on that though.

I also agree the list needs to be overhauled soon to stabilize the decline list trading has experienced. I know for me personally I've been trying to trade down my Blood/Devil PPS for 8 mid advents for the past few weeks with no luck, people tell me they're not looking to trade up, they want to trade down. I even had someone trade me a Spotted Tribal Bunny for this. They said they were fully aware of what their bunny was worth but wanted to complete their pony collection and loved the pets on my side more. They may be the exception rather than the norm, but with what you guys are saying maybe that kind of thinking isn't an exception.

yes, I think that would be a good idea. I would love to work on a new list through docs.

It would be a mess at first, while we're all working to get pets onto it, but through talking and maybe a Chatzy we can refine it further? With multiple people working on the one document it should go a lot quicker!

There were a lot of threads and spreadsheets created with a lot of pet data, through it we discovered things we didn't know about pets, for instance we discovered that Green Toxics were appearing a lot less then its littermates yet it sat at the bottom of the littermate ladder.

Yet I don't know what happened to these list. The community stopped working on them. I want to know why. Did we give up? Did the players who were running the threads decide it wasn't worth working on anymore?

Oh my goodness yes. That sums it up completely. The amount of trades I’ve had canceled since the re-release Of the 18th with the words ‘I only take overpay’ drives me mad.

Isn’t there already people working on the rarity only list tho? I know there already was a thread of people working on it, so I’m not sure if the above discussion is talking about trying a new one or you guys are involved in the current one.

@gallifrey- I don’t think that dragon is that rare to be out on the list and has been denied before, just as the August pps and May lioness and July lioness have been. They aren’t rare enough to be there even if people are demanding overpay.
