I'd say not, as the lion will probably become a VR, with a slimmer chance of being a plain rare. A few old uncommons and a rare won't add up to its value/demand.

This is not quite true.
I use rarity math, so my position may differ from other users, but I would sya this is fair. Your store pets is worth 20 C$, a late 2010 rare, and will be for quite a little while. I value a rare as 2 uncommons, so I would consider the 2 early 2010 uncommons as overpay alone (equal to an early 2010 rare). I have not seen much demand for the lions, and many seme to have been purchased, so I would say this isn't a bad offer.
