Nimble fingers; a playful smile. The girl leans forward with a surging laugh and her colorless eyes dance.

"Nova, babe." I cup her chin with the palm of my hand and chuckle. "You need to relax. If you're jittery, the patrons will notice. Deep breaths."

I wink at her as I lean back, patiently folding my hands in her lap. Her own are restless; she traces a hole in the cushion she sits upon as she places her legs beneath her with a hampering sigh.

"How do you manage this, Jaci?" She groans, burying her hand up to the hilt in her thick white hair. "I'm so nervous I can barely see straight."

In our private train cart, we are free to speak of our job; and so rather than reprimand her for how freely she mentions her career, I smile and shake my head. "You adjust, I suppose. I have, after all, been doing this for much longer than you have."

She puts her elbows on the edge of the table that separates us and purses her delicate mouth into a frown. "So when do we get to go to work?"

Her fingertips are an ear-splitting cacophony as she strikes them against the metal surface. I reach out and capture her hands beneath my own, looping my fingers in between hers.

"Relax, Nova." I smile at her, tranquil. "The signal will be coming shortly."

A short knock at our door made me laugh and I opened it to the kind-faced server, an older lady with a motherly smile. "Would you dearies like something to munch on? It will be a few more hours until we reach out destination."

Unearthing a coin from my pocket, I pass the gold dime to the stranger and nod. "Could we get two cherry lollipops?"

She nods and takes the coin, closing the door noiselessly behind her as she moves off. For a few more minutes we can still hear her calling, offering sweets to the refined crowd on the train, and once her voices fades I turn to Nova with a cheerful smirk.

"Ready, my apprentice?"

She rises sinuously to her feet, kick off her heel, and grin. Her teeth are a flash of white against her alabaster skin. "Let's get it on, teach."

story
burrow walked on the highschool steps into the first day of school
she saw teenagers like her hanging in a group of girls and boys
she soon noticed that was they way everyon was.
sh didnt notice anyone who caught her eye or looked nice.
she walked past a couple group and noticed whispears and laughing. she n]knew then
it was at her.
she was left out. like she always had been.
she had her music player on and she was lisnting to music
when a group of boys pulled the music player and headphones out her hands
and ran. burrow wasnt happy nor was she mad.
she flew up in the air and chased after them. she wasnt watching were she was going.
she flew into the lockers
everything from there was dark

Leo looked up and laughed along with his friends thinking she was faking the whole thing.
he looked at her limp body not moving but still breathing.
"Guys shes really hurt" there was silence through the crowds coming together
"yeah Lo shes really hurt... not" they laughed and threw the music player and it shaddered
"Dudes pick it up he said then gave his buddies a nasty look.
"fine leo"
(leo was the top dog and is the strongest.)
they came and picked it up.
leo picked up the limp girl and ran to the office.
"nurse nurse she flew into a locker and is limp"
"Huh" said the nurse awaking from her nap in ther chair.
"My gosh" she said in a horrid vice.
"how did this happen" she said frimly
"i-i i dont know" he lied
the nurse tried to wake the limp girl up. she wouldnt budge.
she tokok the girl from leos arms
"whats going to happen to that girl" leo asked frimly
"i'm not sure" she sad sadly
she checked the girls pulse
"at least she has a pluse"

"at the office you were out cold" Leo said
the nurse looked at her. "howd this happen" the nurse asked
"boys took my music player i flew to get it back but i slamed into the lockers"
"what boys" the nurse asked looking up burrows home number.
"him that boy and his friends they laughed at me. who brought me here?" she asked
"i did" Leo said
"ooo"
the bell rang
three girls pooped there head through the window and pointed and laughed. then they saw leo
"Leo are you coming"
one girl asked.
"yeah ill be there in a sec"

the girls speed off
"im sorry that this happend we were just playing"
leo said then walked out

Leo got up and growld he jumped on his friend and said "dont do that"

i started at the wall and then at the nurse then back at the wall
Burrows mom came and brought her home.
about five hours later some one rang the doorbell
. burrow got up and opened.
there he was.
"HI Leo" she said dimly
"hi he said back"
burrow loved the way his haor was always in his eyes and his eyes showed in the light
"Im really sorry burrow will you forgive me" he said
"i forgive you" she said sarcastilclay
"hey burrow will you come outside" he askednot as a question but in demading words
"sure" she said and walked outside
they sat for hours talking about school and how much homework was a pain
"time o come in hun" yelled burrows mom
burrow gave leo a lick on his cheek and ran inside.
she sild down the door and blushed.
