Thank you so much for this. xD I was afraid nobody was reading it anymore. 8D I'm glad you like this; the fourth installment should be coming. xD I'm going to introduce some fellow spies of Chy's, lawl~
Anyway, on-topic;
Comm [m] xxx The Shadow [m]
The old man tapped his restless foot against the ground, an inner rhythm that matched the words he spoke.
"They call him the Shadow." He grinned at the young audience he faced, hungry eyes turned towards him as they gobbled up the tale he spun. "He is a man of magic and darkness, someone who hides in fairytales and folklores. It is said that he has thousand forms, but in all of those he holds eyes of molten gold; and when you see The Shadow, that is how you will know it is him." He winked, leaning back as he continued. "Many say he does not exist at all, that he is but a figment of our imagination but we know the truth, don't we?"
One child lifted his pale hand with a wide smile and pushed his shaggy dark green hair out of his face. "Mister, tell us about when he was born."
The man laughed as he took the kid and put him on his lap, balancing him on a knee. "They say that he's been alive for centuries if he's alive at all; that he's immortal. Nobody knows when he was born, or even where he comes from. But he is the greatest assassin that ever lived, and no one will best that reputation in the time we'll see."
From the corner, a long-legged man straightened. The clink of dogtags rustled against his chest as he frowned and folded his arms, glaring at the older man. "Stop telling stories, Da. We all know 'The Shadow' doesn't exist. It's just a child's tale."
But when he turned away his father leaned in with an eager grin and muttered just loud enough for his son to hear, "Poor Comm has never understood, has he kids?"
They all giggled and Comm frowned, but rather then complaining he picked a route to the back door. His footsteps were silent as he carried the trash out, lifting the dumpster lid and pouring the can in. As he worked he hummed to himself to fill in the silence the created; and abruptly, suddenly, the pressure of a hand on his shoulder drew from him a yelp.
"Shhh." A few locks of fine black hair brushed his shoulder when the other leaned forward, and the flicker of white teeth appeared beside him. "I owe you no harm."
Twisting to glare at him, Comm jerked out of his grasp and dropped the can, letting it clatter to the ground. "You don't sneak up on people in this neighborhood." He growled, hefting the trashcan back up and turning away. "If you need a meal, go to the front door."
He didn't even blink but he swore the man moved like light. He stood in front of him on the back doorstep, leaning against the door frame, his grin wide and sultry. "I can't go inside, kid. I find that showing up in public has a certain... disadvantage."
Opening his mouth to tell him off, Comm abruptly stopped. "It is said that he has thousand forms, but in all of those he holds eyes of molten gold; and when you see The Shadow, that is how you will know it is him."
The man's gold eyes twinkled as his grin widened. "Something wrong, kid?"
Comm gaped at him. "You have gold eyes. Gold eyes." He stepped back. "Holy-"
The Shadow's gloved hand closed over his mouth and he chuckled; even in the darkness the gold shimmer of his eyes made them seem like they were smoldering. "Now that you've recognized me," he drawled, nonchalant and casual. "Will you fetch me some food?"
Please write a book. Several books if you have to, just make it so I can sit back in my pj's and read these stories over and over again. D:
