why was choose this date? was it just random? or is this date somehow... special?

I believe Dec 18th is a week before christmas, why that day? I don't know.

To help my anticipation, I slept in until 12:00, went out Christmas shopping with my mom, and took a nap. I tried to be active the whole day and only log on when re-release happens, but here I am with 2 hours left looking at the locked Dec 18 thread seeing what people got from previous years :,)

They're not always omgsr. The UR apple, for example, is very rare.
