Edit: I can probably get them to swap the '09 pony for an '09 dog if that would be better.
Should I ask them to add another '14 rare or two as well? Or is that too much? I've just been told on here I can get a couple of '09 rares for him, so I'm hesitant.

Please be patient, not many people that respond truthfully are on all the time so it takes time. I would say a fair trade to the both of you. A 2015 rare for a 2014 rare is unfair, but if you add the 2016 rare it would fill in the gap for the other 2015.
