I'd say this is unfair to you.
Zebras are a pretty big pain to trade off, and the two September pets don't fill the gap between the Zebra and BW.

I was told before that some gaps aren't '09 rares, rather '09'-'10 uncommons.
A first tier is worth 3 '09 rares, but the gaps from there are just 1 rare or uncommon I believe from 2009.
So if we go by 1 '09 rare per gap, then their pet would be 5 '09 rares, not 6 or 7.
Some people also don't count 2 rares = 1 VR.

That one is worth 6 09 rares. Not all gaps are 09 rares, but you can take a look at the gap list
I would say 1-2 mid-late 09 rares would fix it as each of those very rares is an early or mid 09 and the advent is worth 6 mixed 09 rares ^^
