How do you do a checker hoard? Do you go by IDs?

That's one way.

I tend to just collect a whole bunch and then weed out the ones who don't fit.
But then I'm lazy. XD

I say go for it! Worst case scenario and you don't like them, they could be fodder for other hoards

Depends a lot on what you're hoarding.
The last Checkerboard hoard I did was '08 Leopard Dogs.
I didn't concentrate solely on them though. I just had them on my Wish List and if I got one in a trade I got one. If I didn't I just did other stuff.

Personally, I think it could be very time consuming and frustrating if you did it by trading for ID numbers. That would require hours of copying and pasting. For the massive number of pets now on this website I couldn't imagine wading through all those IDs for the particular ones you needed with any more common pet.

But if you did my lazy arse approach and just traded for tons of them and then swapped and traded out the ones that didn't fit, a more common pet could be quite easy to checkerboard.

With all the talk about checkered hoards I want to try that, too.
I think I might give it a try soon c:

I sorted through my groups today and added some more pets to my Possible Hoard Vault.
These two guys catched my eye, I just have a weak spot for these kind of designs ;-;
But since they are both rare, it'll be quite hard to gather more - I just might take my time and collect them whenever I happen to stumble across one.




I also really like these guys, I might try the checkered pattern with those two hoards ^-^

I only have the one chequer at the moment, but I think chequer hoards look really good c;
I did the same as topiratti and just weeded out those that didn't fit

Two more of these, and my black cat mini hoard will be done. Though, I'm thinking of expanding.

So many active hoards. But at least I'm getting some done. cx

I'd say I'm doing pretty well with my fairy tale pups hoard so far, but I'm astounded that out of all of them I still don't have the bubble outcome everyone seems to be looking for. I am also unsure when to cap it off.. Any advice?

Speaking of which, I seem to have stalled a bit now.
Stuck at just over 1K. I reached my goal and have gotten lazy.
(running out of fodder didn't help either)
With the GWJ going yesterday, pickings are a bit slim.
So I'm just taking it easy, collecting from the auctions I started the beginning of the month and then deciding what I'm gonna do with all these guys once my evil plan is realized.

That is a ridiculous number of dinos.
