I have to say, I'm ever so slightly disappointed about the summer butterwolf. He's gorgeous and all, fire is my favorite element after all. But I was really looking forward to a beautiful summerish butterfly, especially after spring and winter grew. Those two represent their seasons so beautifully, but why did summer get fire?

Or are they actually based on the four elements and not the four seasons? Earth, air, fire and water?

Nope defineltly seasons. You can see the leaves in all of them. Even summer. It wouldn't make sense for it to be all four elements.

Maybe it's both? Winter would be air, Spring would be water, Summer would be fire, and Fall would be earth.

Elements seems to be the more likely answer, especially looking at the outcomes we have.

I personally think that it's the seasons, but the summer is so hot and dry that there is a huge wildfire.

I suppose it depends on where the seasons are based off of. In western USA, wildfires are very much common in the heat of summer, but on the east coast it's simply sticky and humid, so wild fires are rare. I honestly thought the fire BFW was for fall until I realized it was fire.

Dunno. I just don't think the burning one would represent summer just because it's hot. And the "spring" one looks a lot more like summer to me. If it was really spring, I think there would be some flowers or something.

I could be wrong, though.

In places like California forest fires are pretty common in the summer, but other places like Virginia they almost never happen. It's all based upon opinions and stuff, so it really only depends on how you look at it.

I see it as representing summer because there are a ton of places where it gets so hot during the summer that forest fires are a very common thing, too common, imo. It seriously gets really bad in some areas and it's a truly threatening natural disaster. I could be wrong about that being how it represents summer but that's certainly how I'm seeing it.
