Nope defineltly seasons. You can see the leaves in all of them. Even summer. It wouldn't make sense for it to be all four elements.

Elements seems to be the more likely answer, especially looking at the outcomes we have.
I personally think that it's the seasons, but the summer is so hot and dry that there is a huge wildfire.

Hm, actually, now I think they could be based on forests rather than the seasons themselves.This is a forest during snow.

Dunno. I just don't think the burning one would represent summer just because it's hot. And the "spring" one looks a lot more like summer to me. If it was really spring, I think there would be some flowers or something.
