A lot of users do it so that other bidders have a chance to beat it- not because they want more, but they want to give them a fair chance.
The day before any auction I run ends, I close the option to send bids and send the trades back as suggestions, telling them who's winning and when it's ending. There's nothing wrong with people not auto-ing autos- and if you'd look at the Auction rule thread you'd know they aren't required to.
On a rant note, Auctions are b o r i n g.
I have 2 bids for my pets, and neither is fair at all..
