can anyone tell me about how this Advent calendar works? does everyone get the same pets?

(Although it's my first time, I know that-) You get to adopt from a giftbox once a day, and every day you get something different. Not everyone gets the same pets, but everyone does get an outcome from the gift. On the 18th-24th you will get a chance to have an older pet from CS, but it is unknown what you get (It starts as it was originally released). Or you could have a super rare chance of getting a UR pet. I hope this helps c: I don't know about items though xD

Yes. Everyone has the chance to get the same pets (although you may get a few of the same outcomes and miss a few, just like the normal adopts) except on the 18th. Pet and item advent gifts are available from today to Christmas (or longer, I cannot remember). On December 18th you adopt a newborn 're-release' which is a pet from any time before early 2012. You have a chance at adopting an un-release which is a extremely rare pet that has never been released before.

for the most part, yes. :] Every day, there will be a new pet, pet set, or item set to adopt/collect that is available to everyone. The exception is the 18th (and it's only the 18th guys, the 24th was a compensation for staff having gotten distribution screwy, it's not normally a mystery box day), when a 'mystery box' is presented instead of pets or items. The mystery box allows you to adopt a random pet from any past set and is usually set to give out rarer, older pets. Some lucky few may even get a special 'unreleased' pet made specifically to be available in small numbers for that one day only.

Last year was the first time we got re-releases on two days; maybe it'll be kept that way, maybe not.
