Nope, there's an easier way. Trade common pets, newborns, halloween candy, whatever, as long as it's common, for C$.
Especially at events, there'll be lots of C$ traders who will give C$ for that stuff.
Then just collect C$ until you have enough to equal a list pet. That way, a couple of uncommons will be worth a low advent (;

Then, even if I'd have enough to trade for a list pet, when the person asks me for an item, I have to ask someone else for the item, meaning it would take while.

It's confusing because you don't say how much C$ you think an uncommon is worth.

I am now an experienced C$ trader. I can tell you right now that your method won't really work. Why? People don't give C$ for uncommons. People won't give List pets for C$. I have very rarely found anyone willing to trade their List pets, even lowest tier Advents, for C$. I've lucked out a few times, but it has only been luck. People don't generally want tons and tons of C$. Nor do C4 traders want uncommons for their C$, not only because uncommons are not exactly valuable, but because it is so much harder to price and uncommon than a rare. Yes, people do give C$ for tokens and pets during events, but only EVENT pets. They don't generally give C$ for regular, run of the mill pets unless they're rare. And even then, it's very difficult to get a List pet for C$.

It's even difficult to get a List pet for good '09 rares that you've traded for.

I officially HATE the Rares List!! It's messing everything up. I mean, you just want a pet because it's so adorable, like the Moonswirl or Green Toxic, but THE FREAKIN' STUPID LIST RUINS EVERYTHING! Whywhywhyyyyyy does the List even exist? It's just causes lots of hard pointless work and I am going over the top. I think I should either quit the pets part of CS or just quit the entire game and never look back.

I think I should either quit the pets part of CS or just quit the entire game and never look back.

I feel your pain. My ultimate dreamie was '09 UR Dog. I loved it to pieces, not because of rarity. I have NOTHING worth it.

I've both traded list pets for C$ and paid C$ for list pets. I bought a skelly PPS with just under 300 C$. I've also been paid 10-ish C$ for a litter of newborns. All things considered I could've saved up the C$ and with 30 newborn litters gotten a skelly PPS.
The problem is though that when you get the C$ split up it can be tough to get the right items/pets from the store. If you had three people owe you 5 C$ you wouldn't be able to buy anything priced higher than 5 C$ even if technically you had 15 C$. I'm curious as to why C$ isn't transferable yet or if it will ever be. It just seems silly to have people owing you C$ or having to buy the items for you.

The pets would be worth the same even without the list. The list just helps people not get ripped off for a really valuable pet. :) I know it can seem like an enemy at times but just think if everyone disagreed on what those pets were worth how hard it would be to trade for them.
