Paperclips are when you take a pet that is worth very little and very, VERY slowly trade for slightly older or slightly more rare pets that have more value.
Doing one well, a person you are trading with should NOT BE AWARE that it's a paperclip. You should aim to trade for things that are within three months, that are of near-equal demand and rarity. You can sometimes UP the rarity by backing up to a previous year in terms of date, then trading for a newer date, HIGHER RARITY after you've backed up.
ie: You take a COMMON July 2018 cat or dog (C July 2018). Trades: C June 2018 > C May 2018 > C Feb 2018 > C Jan 2018 > C Dec 2017 > C Sept 2017 > C June 2017 > C April 2017 > C Feb 2017 > C Jan 2017 > C Dec 2016...
And then, try and dip your toe into a uncommon from 2019. And then start the process again.
The issue with the challenge is
1. If you mention that you're doing it, you won't get a trade. It won't happen. Nearly everyone finds them to be a bit scammy.
2. If you push too hard to make an unequal trade, you won't get it. Did you SEE how many trades are up there? YOU MIGHT have to make more. Often times, a Jan > Dec leap can't be done very easily, even if it's within 3 months. They won't care. It's a thing. You may have to push around in January of a year to trade around to find something that someone will let you hop into a december trade of the previous year.
Doing it FAST is never going to happen. Doing it and not being called a scammer can also be tough.
I honestly don't recommend doing it. There's a lot of folks who get angry as heck if they notice you doing it. They may foe or block you over it.
But if you're up for that little bit of personal challenge well... ::shrug:: you can.
TIP: Put pets you don't want to trade into a locked group to prevent unwanted trades!
