If you offer even one one of them in a bid and it's the only pet, you automatically win the entire auction right then and there. Why complain about expensive autos if an auction shouldn't be won so easily anyway? To me, autos are above reason, really. In fact, on my auction thread, mine will never change, no matter what the pet I'm auctioning.
Autos SHOULD be expensive, even ridiculously so. It's why they're called autos.
Hekmoi wrote:If you are bidding the auto, prepare to pay a little bit more than what the pet is worth. An auto-win should be something worth just a little bit more than the pet as an incentive to make the auctioneer end the auction right there and then and trade you the pet.
Perhaps that's what worked when Hekmoi's post was first made: only slightly more valuable pets as an auto.
Tell me though. Do you see ANY auction on the front page with autos of only slightly higher value than the auctioned pet?
My educated guess, after watching the front page auctions for awhile, is no. They're all of substantial higher value. To me, it's only logical.
The current-time auctioneers don't want to give their pet up at the drop of a hat for only a little bit higher value. If they're going to end the auction for a single pet, they'd like it to be something quite a bit higher. Or perhaps a dream pet, which can often equal the same thing.
In other words, Hekmoi's post has done nothing to change my mindset.

NO ONE is going to pay a moonswirl for a munchkin.
And so be it if they don't. Autos aren't a requirement.
And honestly, if you base autos off of what I've said previously, then there /are/ no unreasonable autos.
Unreasonable boosters, most definitely, but not autos. If you aren't required to bid an auto, then what does it matter to you? Leave them to it.

i have seen many many auctions, even now, with autos as "anything higher than it on the rare's list".
its just the unknown rarity and demand, the pricing on the pets isnt 100% set yet. after 3 months the autos will still be high but not as much, maybe an 09 rare at most.
the High Auto's are normally a put off, most people (unless desperate or a hoarder) wouldn't bid.

You shouldn't be encouraging it. Auto's are meant to be something above the pet to end the auction, but not an extreme. This is teaching people they need to overpay great amounts to get what they want. Moonswirl to auto a munchkin probably means the boosters are unreasonable, which means they won't take what would be a fair swap. I agree with charmens, I don't bid, and I know most won't when we see extreme autos or boosters.

*sigh* All I want in an auction for a high september *they're all reasonable* is this following bid:
The only auto I'd take for that pet <3
Raven dog+marionette dog+2 red cerbys+ a patchwork dog+ a clockwork bunny+ a blue rose. And if it's too low, I'd add a few high advents on my side to make it fair Dx that's all I want people! D:
x3 I have that in really really tiny print in my auctions front page xP

You shouldn't automatically assume that boosters will be as extreme as autos.
And if an auto is extremely expensive in an auction for a relatively low-value pet, I feel actually encouraged to bid, as I know that there's a low likelihood of someone sweeping the entire auction away with an easy auto, giving the rest of us lowly bidders a chance.
Low autos will completely discount the rest of the fair bids in an auction. High autos have a greater chance of letting the fair bids shine through, as no one will want to give an expensive pet for something like, say, a July Lion, or August PPS, or some other hyped up pet.

And yet, the auto is worth more then the pet, where most fair bids are equal and with pets that are worth less separately. A fair auto that is a little above the pet makes both auctioneer and auto'er happy. And yet, people still pay extremely high autos because they think it is fair-ish so it drives prices up.
