I think this person took a wrong turn somewhere, because they wrote out a long response on how they were sorry I was leaving and how generous I was. I had been posting in the free adoption forum though, so that may explain the confusion. Hmm.

I'm sick of my trades being cancelled because I didn't send a message, even for a simple swap.
If I wanted to talk to you, I'd send a message. But I don't, I don't want to talk to you if nothing major needs to be sorted out.
I just wanted your pet, not a conversation, don't expect a message from me when it's pointless.

Though honestly I do find that kind of rude ^^;

When I go shopping in the supermarket I also say " Hello" and "have a nice day" when I pay. Even though I just want their stuff and they want their money.

So I always try to remember there is a real person on that comp on the other side and be nice, at least try to say " Would you like to trade?"

IMO just so much nicer than ... nothing ^^;

Honestly I already forgot though. But I also I think I already cancelled trades because I frogot to put a message.

I find typical messages like 'Do you want to trade?' To be extremely repetitious and annoying. Everyone says it and you know they want to trade. I find no point in just getting a proclimation of that.

I also refuse to cancel with a message (most of the time). I don't have to and nothing is making me. When people get all pouty about me not saying anything, well that's not my issue.

Actually I wouldn't get pouty at anyone, I just try to explain why I personally feel a few words are in order when sending a trade.

"Have a nice day" Is probably also very repetetive for a cashier who works all day, and most customers will probably not care either what she will do over the day and if it's nice or not, as long as they get the items they wanted to buy.

On the other side one of my friends works as a waitress at the moment and she does remember if her customers said such things or if they behaved otherwise.

Now all that about RL: But for me I remember a real person behind the other computer so I try to do the same like in RL.

Now I won't tell someone off for not writing and message or cancel their trade just because of it. But personally prefer writing at least something.

As of the no cancel message: I usually at least tell people if I just didn't like the offer or if I found the trade unfair, or if I cancel because I am getting repetetive blank trades with no message. It just takes a me a few seconds more and a newbie might not have known that some UC =/= some other UC.

But again this is my personal opinion and I am not telling anyone off, like you said no one can make you write a message.
