Normally those rules means, they will give you 8 Commons for your Very Rare. Not the other way round.
If you offer them 8 Commons for their Very Rare, they will cancel.

They just asked you what would you want, so wanted you to edit this, maybe send a trade instead of suggestion by a mistake?

I cancel each and every trade that's sent to me like that. If they want me to edit, they send a suggestion. to me, it looks like they want you to accidentally accept the trade.
