Although it isn't a nice group name you can't judge someones favorites.

Not all favorites have to be from previous months, they may simply like the way the pet looks. I find no shame in that portion.

When people clearly can't read that I tend to only want wishlist pets, the only exception being Bunnies and PPS Dogs, and they send me a trade containing a combination of rats and butter fly wolves (non-wishlist) with one dog (on wishlist) to get around my lock. /sigh
