Very unfair to them. Their pet is tier 7 while yours is tier 1.
Tier 7=7-8 2009 rares
Tier 1=3-4 2009 rares
Your pet is worth roughly half of theirs

The speckled rats have been OMGSR before which puts them at the very top of the main list in terms of rarity. Due to their poor demand because they are rats, they only go for lower main list pets such as a balloon dog. I swapped one a long time ago for a balloon dog. I would assume they still go for around that, although it can be hard to find rat traders sometimes. People uninterested in rats may not accept anything at all for them so if you want to trade a speckle rat for a good price, you may have to look around for someone after that particular one.
