some of my other theories are:
* summer event is soon
* school is out (for younger players)
* the game is having a bit of a popularity surge, could be because of other similarly-aged games getting popularity again? (moshi monsters potential rerelease has made a lot of people join a lost media project i'm in) i also remember a video about "no kids spaces being online anymore" on my YouTube algorithm a few months ago. could also be because other pet adopts sites are dying (i heard something about santae?)
