Also: Not terribly related, but does it drive anyone else crazy that people literally have to put messages in their sigs/interests/trade rules begging the mods not to ban them, simply because them have the same computer as someone else or have a friend that uses their computer sometimes? It's insane. I mean, I get that it would be unfair for people to have multiple accounts, but this is a litle out of hand

They don't have to and it makes no difference if they do. As long as you only trade fairly with other people in your household, you won't get banned. It's when people are using one account to "fund" another that they ban people(eg: your "brother" sends you all the rares they get and you give them omg so commons for them) and if their sig says their brother is a different account, etc, it won't make a difference if they're breaking rules, it's the rule-breaking part that's the problem.

My sister and I trade pretty often and make sure they're always fair trades, we haven't had any problems doing so(well, not with staff lol, we do occasionally argue about trades, haha) and we've been doing it since she made an account.

For the original topic, I'm sure it's an unpopular view, but I don't read trade rules in general. Either my trade is fair and you'll accept it, or it isn't and you won't. I'm not interested in jumping through hoops for a pet and don't expect people to do so for mine(although I do sometimes forget trades and leave people waiting, sorry guys <3). The things most reasonable people have as trade rules are basic common sense things I would do anyway(offer fairly, etc.).

Free pets are a different matter and I do understand when people have limits, codewords, etc. there. They're giving you something for free and it's reasonable for them to expect you to make effort, not take all the pets, etc. but when it's a straight up fair trade and people expect me to search through their pet's lifestory to add "pineapple" or "sausage" or w/e to my trade message then uhh no.

I tried to keep my trade rules short, but there's a lot I've found I need to put in there, so they've kinda grown over time. I dislike story-like ones and codewords though. I will usually skim through a story for the rules, but unless I really want to make the trade, I'll back out of one with a codeword. I do always read through trade rules though when I go to make someone an offer (:

I find trade rules to be a pretty good impression of someone's nature, so the way they're worded and what they say tend to decide if I want to trade with them or not. If they don't seem friendly, I'll often go find someone else to trade with.

I do wish people would take the time to read rules. Since I always do it doesn't feel great when I get trades from people who clearly didn't read mine. I often scroll back up multiple times while making an offer to check I haven't broken any.

I do appreciate that on swaps threads it gets very hectic, which is why my actual rules are kept seperate from any other info, such as the link to my trade thread and what I'm collecting, so people can quickly jump to it (:

Stories, codewords, etc. are all useless to me-I'm wanting to trade not examine your writing talent or my detective skills trying to decipher the correct codeword.

For mine personally, I have the most important bolded to help people find what they need to know quickly. The not bolded is not as important, it just gives a bit more details on my rules and can be skipped if someone's in a hurry.
