Spanish Homework Help...

We have to write a 1-2 page diary entry from the time of Cortes, I was probably going to focus on la Malinche (if you don't know who she is, it isn't important ) but I'm slightly confuzzled... What tense would I use for a diary entry? I mean, with stories I know you use imperfect and preterite, but this is from the actual person's perspective at the time its happening... So would I use present tense? Or mostly imperfect and preterite?

I would suggest using past tense, since the author most likely isn't performing an action as she writes about it.

Probably right, its just that there's two past tenses XP I was hoping for a simpler answer, like the present tense, but aw well...

I'm in Spanish IV and I still cling to the present tense like a baby

Edit: Wait a second, what about with describing things? I know actions would be past tense, but if I'm describing something as if I'm that person would I use imperfect or present?
