Japanese

Postby Pan » Sun Nov 01, 2009 9:09 am

Sooo... I'm at work right now, trying to memorize my Hiragana and Katakana tables by translating manga RAWs and I got curious: is anyone here fluent/studying/learning Japanese at this point? No one I know in RL has any interest in learning it and because it's a small town I don't have anyone to talk to about it and get corrections/tips.

I've always wanted to learn Japanese, ever since I first started watching anime on Cartoon Network in 6th grade. I've only been able to get resources for it now, though. ^^

What do you use for learning? I've bought a few books and thinking about getting a program as well.

I've tried to use the computer, but I much prefer the books. I use Japanese in Mangaland, Japanese the Manga Way, a Hiragana and Katakana practice book, and I also have a Kanji dictionary. I'm planning on ordering a few more sometime next month, though I'm not sure which yet.

I'm making an attempt at both at once, since Katakana is angular and Hiragana rounded I shouldn't mix them up, lol. :P

Your high school offers the Japanese language? D: Lucky! Mine only offers French, Spanish, and Latin. >> Though Latin is very fun! ^_^

How much do you know? :3

Might I suggest memorizing the Hiragana and Katakana tables? ^^ You can find loads of them on the net, and it's a great start for the language. (Though one of my favorite things to do is translate the Kanji in names. It's a fascinating study XD)

I've been wanting to learn for what seems like forever.

I wanted to learn Japanese after Vampire Knight, FullMetal Alchemist, Death Note, and Fruits Basket.

I've been looking every were to find out how to learn it.

Wish I could help you. :[
