Japanese Speakers?? or learners (like me)

Hi everyone! Nice to meet you all. I have to take a language course in college, at at this point, I'm leaning towards Japanese.

I've learned a few Hiragana from Duolingo, but I feel like the order they teach the letters in isn't that great? I thought it was best to learn by row or column or whatever it's called, but on Duolingo the order appears to be random.

I will check out a few of the mentioned sources in this thread!

If I remember correctly, I think Duolingo teaches them in an order that means they can teach the numbers concurrently. It's a really odd order, though. I learned them in the column order in each set of five (あ/い/う/え/お, か/き/く/け/こ, etc) and it made a lot more sense (to me, at least). I guess Duolingo's program is just condensed enough that they want to teach you an order where you can learn words at the same time, or something.

Hello! I am not a japanese-learning person, but I do like how this language sounds and well, actually, I do love anime as many of people with my life-style
I wanted to ask not about the language, but about country. I am going to Japan in 3 weeks, and have some stupid questions. 日本語を勉強しているひとですで～す！
高校で４年間にとったんですから、少し日本語ならできますよ。
もちろんペラペラでわありませんが、先生はいつも「あんたは日本語が上手だねー」と言いましたから少し自信がありますｗｗ

先生は日本で生れたひとですから、学生の時に英語を勉強しなければいけませんでした。でも、英語の授業に読むのだけならいました。私の先生は会話練習もしたいでしたからその英語の授業がきらいでした。
だから、日本語の先生になる時に、会話と文化など、全部教えたいでした。先生の生徒は日本語をしゃべるのがたいていですけど漢字の書くのと読むのが本当へたですよｗｗ

What I tried to say:

"Heyyy, I'm a Japanese learner!
I took Japanese for 4 years in high school, so I can sorta manage.
Of course I'm not fluent, but my sensei always used to say to me, 'Your Japanese is so good!' so I have a little bit of confidence in my abilities lol

My sensei was born in Japan, so when she was in school she was required to study English. However, in class they only ever taught them how to read, and my teacher wanted to learn how to actually speak, so she hated learning English while in school.
That's why when she became a teacher, she wanted to make it less torturous for her students than it was for her by including more than just reading, like conversation practice and stuff on Japanese culture. So now all of her students (including me) are pretty good at speaking but we suck SO bad at kanji, both reading and writing lol"

I'm not trying to badmouth my sensei in any way, in fact I loved learning to speak Japanese so much that I think I want foreign language to be a major part of my future in some way!

im gonna start learning Japanese once i get a book about how to speak it to help me.
i mostly got into wanting to learn it since i watch some animes. Tho i mostly watch them in english, except bnha. i watch bnha in japenese and its really cool (the language lol but also the anime ofc)!
