Duolingo

Postby marsram » Tue Dec 15, 2015 9:52 am

(If this subject is in the wrong board I apologize ahead of time!)

From what I've seen, a large amount of people on here desire to learn another language and do not necessarily know how to speak one. So I figured I should let people know this amazing program exists.

Wikipedia wrote:Duolingo is a free language-learning platform that includes a language-learning website and app along with a crowdsourced text translation platform and a language proficiency assessment center. Duolingo is ad-free and offers all its language courses free of charge. The language-learning website and app offer over 40 different language courses across 23 languages.
Duolingo is the most effective language-learning program I've ever used. It also includes a wide variety of languages besides the languages which English speakers tend to have the most immediate resources for like French, Spanish, etc. The full list of languages they have for English speakers are: Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Irish, Danish, Swedish, Esperanto, Turkish, Norwegian, and Ukrainian, with more on the way! I hope it doesn't seem too much like I'm advertising, it's just this program is so unbelievable it sometimes seems too good to be true. Why don't yall try it out?

You can find me on there as apollose. I hope to see some of you there!

Yup I just started on this recently, like the beginning of the month was the first I've tried hard to learn another language and now it says I'm 6%fluent in German. It's super nice to be able to translate full sentences now, I feel like I've learned a whole lot!

After taking (and not doing well in) Spanish I felt like I could never learn another language, and it made me feel really bad. But I stumbled upon this a while ago and gave it a shot. I really hope people take the opportunity to go and at least try it out. X3 I'm a big fan.

Bump so other people see this
Make this your signature if you take the warrior oath:
I'll remember Brightheart…When I see a scar one someone's face
I will think of WindClan...Every time I win a race.
I'll remember Goosefeather...When nobody believes me
I'll remember Scourge...When someone's teased for being tiny
I'll remember Heathertail...When someone wants to be 'just friends'
I will think of StarClan...When I am near the end
I'll remember Leafpool...When I must follow my heart
I'll remember Hollyleaf...If I ever fall apart
I'll remember Brambleclaw...When I must prove myself.
I'll remember Spottedleaf...When I'm suffering from bad health
I'll remember Lionblaze...When I am feeling strong
I'll remember Tigerstar...If I choose the path that's wrong
I'll remember Dovewing...When I hear of something far away
I'll remember Cloudtail...When a kitten catches their first prey
I'll remember Feathertail...Whenever I must be brave
I'll remember The Tribe...When I'm in a cave
I'll remember Ashfur...When somebody breaks my heart
I'll remember Barley...When me and my siblings are far apart
I'll remember Ivypool...When I try to be the best
I'll remember Firestar...When my loyalty's put to the test
I'll remember the many battles...When I see conflict or strife
I promise to remember all of these cats...
For the rest of my life

I'm learning Danish and Esperanto on there - I kinda already know some Esperanto so at the moment it's quite easy, although it is quite easy to grasp so I'm just getting vocab more!
