Question about trading (can't find an answer)

Hi, all!

I've been here for a few months, but I've got a question that's been perplexing me. I can't find an answer, and finally decided I'd risk someone telling me I'm stupid for asking it:

I've received a lot of trade requests from people I don't know - and I received a number of requests before I ever made a forum post. On Dec. 18th, I received at least 2-3 trade requests every hour despite not making a single post. I have no idea how these people found me.

My question is: how do people find trade partners in this way, i.e. NOT on the forums and NOT someone they already know? How do you find which players have specific pets in order to present a trade offer?

P.S. I know there is a master member list, but it seems like it would be an awful lot of work to manually look at the pets owned by every member, even just the new members added in the last month. Heck, the last WEEK.

Well, some people browse people who are online at random
And trade with them, and sense trading is a large part
Of CS, that might be why?

some people usually find other users browsing forums or certain pages and click their usernames, others use the big members list located beneath the forums. you have a few posts as well, so maybe they clicked your name through the posts you made to trade with you.

...Again, this occurred before I ever made a forum post. I've made exactly five posts, including replies, on these forums in the entire time I've been here. So no.

honestly i'm guessing that they just randomly clicked your name on the bulk member list. you said it would be a lot of work but when i'm bored and looking for trades, i can skim through usernames and pets really quick to find the ones i'm looking for, you were probably just picked by chance and the fact that a ton of people try to trade people who are new for 18th pets
