We need your feedback on an update to the rarity system!

Really like these stars, though I think the omg so rare would need a different colour (which might need to shift the other colours a bit as well). I prefer the stars with lighter backgrounds over those with dark that someone else proposed.




Just throwing this here as example for bars with dimension of the originals.

First has more muted colours in yellow and cyan as well as a lighter pink that I think distinguishes better (I prefer the first)







In regards to names, I’m partial to ”extremely” being used and all names as on the first page. However, even while being at first against ”super” and ”super duper”, I think that they are fitting in a more ”childlike” way and goes well with the ”OMG so”:s while still being clear on which is worth more than the other.

I like these the best. They're easily distinguishable imo without sacrificing visual appeal - I'm not really fond of the other color palettes suggested, to be quite honest, I don't think the colors work well together.

Also I don't think I've said this yet but I am very against "super duper" simply because it is a pain to say and abbreviate. The OMG rarities get a pass for at least rolling off the tongue, but super duper just... doesn't to me.

I would feel overwhelmed if 4 more rarities were added. It just seems like too much. I understand the appeal trading-wise, but from an organization standpoint the idea stresses me out (I organize my pets by rarity so that's just a me thing cuz I'd have to redo it all). I like the simple system or maybe I'm just averse to change after so long... Adding "very uncommon" wouldn't be so bad, so option 1 or 2 for me.

personally i think re-labelling the existing rarities/redistributing might be better overall, bc there's not really a reason to have so many "common" rarities in general? everything below common is basically common, none of them have much value anyway. i've always just lumped them together when trading for new pets bc of how superfluous having three common rarities is.

it might be a good idea to look at how trading card games handle rarities, and perhaps slide the "uncommon" label down a tier and just add more "rare" ones... but in general i feel like it could get way too micromanage-y adding a bunch more tiers.

I personally think adding four would be best in the long term. I hear that it may be overwhelming at first, but as someone who has been on this site a LONG time (and hope to be for a long time in the future), it just makes more sense to me. SO many pets are added each year, that 5-10 years from now, I think spreading them all across a larger scale would make it far less intimidating for newcomers.

terrible terrible idea..... i already disliked when the rarities were reworked some number of years ago, and so many of my pets lost value.
this is going to continue to ruin the trading economy and continue to make pets less valuable, and older rares even HARDER to trade for. I do not support this one bit

From what I understand, this update wouldn't make your pets lose value, it would make their value more accurate/obvious

I really like Panne's edit of my original rarity stars mockup, so I sat down and made a version with the colors proposed by Fellefan! I wasn't liking how the "shiny" bar was looking (it just looked a lot like the SR bar tbh), but thought the rainbow OMGSR was cute and hopefully not too similar to the custom bar...? Who knows.

I do like the "super duper" name for the new "extremely/super/ultra" tiers, it's rather whimsical in line with tiers like "OMGSC/R". I am in the camp that we should preserve as many existing rarity names as possible - assuming that 4 rarities will be added by the looks of the poll, that's a big enough change already that I would imagine keeping at least some tier names will make the adjustment easier for most people.

Other people may have already brought this up, but the first and last "colors" are already being used. The blank is for still growing, and the rainbow is for customs. What would we change those to?

I saw someone bring it up a while ago.
I agree that these colors are too close together, I'm not fully color blind but I have a very hard time seeing the differences between light greens/yellow, yellows/oranges, and pinks/purples.
I know these aren't the final designs, but I would hope the final designs would be somewhat more visibly different.

I completely agree!! I really hope they branch out from the few shades. It looks like people are proposing some very good pallets with distinguishing colors so I really hope they take that into account

I like the idea of the bars being kept to display rarities, but I am against using "super" and "super duper" to describe pet rarities! I think changing the existing colors would be way too disruptive for older users and we should add new colors in between. Even if the colors are close together, that point is negated by the written rarity titles under the bar. I fear that a lot of older players will leave if there is too much change at once. I think devs should either introduce one rarity and meddle with the bar designs or add four and keep the bars and colors the same. One change at a time and look at feedback!

I voted against the four new rarities, but in case they will come (and I guess that, because of the high demand here and the result of the poll) I prefer this colour range (the first one). The pastel colours are beautiful but I think they're harder to distinguish. Of course I also like these colours more because they're fitting more into the old design.

Anyways I think "extremely" is a bit long but much better than "super" and "superduper". Don't want to offend anyone but I think that sounds a bit "childish". I guess the most people will just write ex. or extra like OMG. I've never saw someone writing "Oh my god so rare" out and why should it be different with "extremely"?

I love this design the most personally! The stars are super cute and colors are bright/saturated/individual
