I have a question; Is it compulsory to have certain skills on the game? For example, speaking another language, having experience on the oekaki board, etc. Once i read the general helpers information about themselfs in the 'introduction' forum and they all seemed to have certain skills that could of possibly been why they have been selected?

Having knowledge on CS topics (such as trading, how the site works, etc) certainly helps you in your application. But just be honest. If your trade knowledge isn't the best but you're still nice around the boards and have helped others before than that's also seen as positive. The more experience you have around CS, the better. It's not necessary to have such skills, but it helps.

But as always, don't lie about things to get the job. It won't help you to lie because we will find out (this is directed at everyone).

We don't know. When the apps are about to close it will be posted, and then you just have to wait for the announcement.

It depends on the length of time, but it could. We can't possibly assess every case objectively.

yes, if any staff member is planning on being away, we let the others/nick and tess know for how long, etc.

As a General Helper these would be some of your duties:
You would be able to read some types of questions that have been sent by members using the "get help" form. (These are not visible to regular members). You should check these help requests regularly and reply to any questions you're able to answer. You should encourage everyone to use the help system if they have questions or problems, instead of asking them to PM staff or General Helpers directly.
You should regularly visit the CS Suggestions and Problems board and help answer anything you can
You should visit the Introductions board regularly and welcome new members to the site
Help members around the forum whenever you stumble across people having problems
Be friendly and approachable for members who need help or advice on CS
