I would definitely recommend the white faced, I've been to a nice family owned bird store, and there was this one beautiful white faced cockatiel. I almost bought it, but my mom said no since it's a huge responsibility, and I already have 2 cats and a fish. (I'm horrible with small animals, I had a hamster once and she died 'cause I forgot I had one)

I hope you make a good decision with on what to get! I really want to donate, but my mom said no.(we're in a money crisis right now) Good luck!
i don't ever come on here anymore don't expect me to respond to any messages in a reasonable time

Mellina wrote:Hi Tess,

instead of choosing between the colours, do yourself and the birds a favour and take two of them.

Then you can have one of each colour.

I used to breed parakeets and had a lot of books about bigger variations, too.

And no matter which book I was reading, they always recommended to have at least two birds, because having just one causes problems like them pulling feathers, screaming to loud, becoming depressive and so on. :?

And they said, too, that a human could never fill in the gap of being a real partner for one bird, because they are used to live in a swarm and a human being just can´t be around for 24 hours, like another bird can do it. The gender is less important, if you don´t plan to breed. Even birds of the same gender can live happily together.

So, if your cage is big enough, please try to get two of them, no matter what colour. It might saves you a lot of costs for the vet in future.

Unfortunately, my cage isn't big enough for two, and in this flat I don't have room for a 2-cockatiel-size cage :( Maybe next yet I'll be able to get him a companion, but for now it'd just be cruel to try and house two birds in here

I know it's not the best arrangement to get a single cockatiel, but I'll do everything I can to make sure he is happy and doesn't get lonely

I'm getting one which is around 10-weeks old, so at least he's not already spent years in an aviary cause that would be a huge shock to his system trying to bring an adult aviary bird here on his own in a cage.

Hey, I haven't opened the donations yet but when I do I will make a notice on the front page explaining how it'll work :)

looks like donations will be $5 for full set of bird + toys, I can't accept $8 anymore because there are too many people wanting to donate (and I don't need that much money)

I can probably only offer around 25 places for donators, so I'm sorry if I leave anybody out >:

The donators will be listed on the birds page, and I might make up some wee official-sponsor badges for you guys to keep on your signatures or something :)

I still haven't decided whether the pets will be tradeable or not, I'm thinking the pet itself should be non-tradeable but the item bird could be tradeable, if you follow me? You get one of each, so if you want to share the item bird with someone else, it's up to you. I see both points of view about the trading/non-trading arguement; but it's hard to say to someone who has paid for something, that they can't do what they want with it.

Thankyou to everyone who has been keeping up with all of this :) The auction on the bird cage ends tomorrow, so I'll be able to calculate the costs and open donations shortly after.

I agree about the bird adoptable being non-tradeable - but the *item* being tradeable 83 After all, it wouldn't be fair if someone just donated to have something ultra-rare to trade off (not saying anyone has that intention, just stating how it would be like) -- but at least if the item could be shared, I know non-able-to-donators like me would be very contented with that =u=

At least, I would be : D
when first i appear i seem mysterious
but when explained i'm nothing serious

Yesh, I can donate =D

Wonder if there's like a link to donate to you? That would be easier.

Love the preview! Such a cute bird.
