looking at the poll, it doesn't seem like any discussion of this would be actually fruitful. *sigh*

Yeah. The thing is who can resist a poll right. Everyone has that itch to select an option.

Imagine if we could counter with a poll that has the reality:

Are you willing to overpay for this monthly rare pet?
Are you willing to put in the effort/time in to find a trading partner?
Are you going to trade fairly with new players that have a spare monthly rare pet?
Are you going to auction your monthly rare pet for obscene overpay?
Are you rethinking this option of rare monthlies?

I wonder what those votes would look like

Well I certainly can’t speak for others, but my answers would be:
If it’s something I really want, I’ll overpay a certain amount, otherwise I won’t worry about trying to get it.

But how would poll results for questions phrased like that help the site decide whether or not to do this? It's not really the site's issue if someone would overpay for a monthly pet, or if people are going to put time and effort into trading. They also don't really police trading fairly, or auctions for monthly pets. Only the last question would be helpful, but it would need to be paired with "Are you still happy with the option of having rare monthlies" to be an accurate depiction of the site's preferences.

Oh no, yeah you're right, I was not actually making a poll with votes that would determine anything! And I have no intention of staff using my hypothetical "poll" in any capacity. I was just making light of the situation ^^; that there is no turning around this train, so to speak.

I have a gut feeling that when they inevitably go through with this based on poll results (and presumably do a test run next month) there’s going to be a massive shift in people’s stances once they’ve seen it in action, whether it be for or against
Unfortunately as somebody who’s vehemently against this I really don’t think things are going to be in our favour until we have physical evidence of how bad of an idea it is in practice

I have to admit that I find it confusing that rares are…more common now? I know the rarities changed, but I would have thought that rarity has to do with how many of this pet are in circulation on the site. However, it almost seems arbitrary sometimes as to what makes a rare and what makes an omgsc, particularly when they showed the new graph regarding the new rares system. A couple of the comments on this thread have specifically listed rares as being “more common” now which baffles me. Can someone explain how that works?

I’m absolutely for getting rares in standard litters, I’d personally like to see at least one a month that’s harder to get than the others outside of events! That actually sounds awesome and frankly was how I thought these things worked to begin with.
