I totally agree people will end up forgetting equimagine even existed!!!!

All the the horses will be credited to equimagine for the designs, no one will forget her contribution.

even if she is credited then she didnt make them did she so they are not hers she will be wiped from CS history!!

Are people forgetting that she does, in fact, have a couple of staff dogs that she made? Even if her horses are gone, her staff dogs aren't being touched and the horse designs are still hers. She's not being wiped from CS history.

No, it's not a form of art theft - when she made the designs for the website, the designs became the property of Chicken Smoothie to do with them as they wish.

In addition to this, it'd be impossible for her to have copyrighted something like the realistic markings on one month's batch or the batch where every horse had a different color of hair. She didn't make them originally.

It'd be like putting a Jaguar's spots on a wolf and saying, "THIS IS MY ORIGINAL SPECIES, DON'T STEAL!!" When there's no defining features to it other than it's a wolf with spots. If it came to something serious like a lawsuit, a judge would probably get mad at her for wasting his time.

Besides, I'm certain Tess and Nick have already talked with Equi about this update. I doubt she'd really be able to stop them if she didn't want them to initiate a change like that (it's their site, not hers), but I wouldn't think Tess/Nick are the type of people to just throw out someone's work without the original artist's consideration or without her knowing, first.

It's really silly to get so worked up about it, though.
Change can be hard to get used to, but it it's not exclusively a negative or positive thing.
Why, I remember when Neopets changed its layout from the original sidebar on the left to having it across the top. I HATED the new layout for months until it started to grow on me. c: The horses will still be the same ones you know and love, they'll just be a little refreshed. x3

All of the older horses are unique because of the different lines and most would become meaningless if you changed the lines.

Like the Buckskin PPS. So many people like it because it is "so cute" and what not... if you changed it then that would be a lot different and you would probably have to deal with all of the demand change and all of that. {Not saying that the new PPS's aren't cute but,,, the older ones are a lot cuter.}

So that's what I have to say about this.

We have noticed that it seems like the main concerns so far are about a few favorite pets like the PPS ponies and the rainbow mane changing. If the opinion remains divided then we may re-vote with new conditions such as keeping the PPS ponies and have special line edits for things like the rainbow mane horse so that it still looks good on the new lines.

What about all the PPS? I have 3 PPS foals all with different lineart/poses (and I'm sure there's more) and that's why I like them, because they're different.

Here's my hypothesis on why there are so many "Yes" votes...

From what I've seen of the comments most of the people voting yes to the change are newer member and therefore have no attachment to the older horses. Those of us who have been raising them, trading them, and collecting them for a while have voted "No" as we have an attachment to the horses. Would these horses:
Pet's name: myu
Adopt virtual pets at Chicken Smoothie!

Also be changed to the new line art because they are different? Will the unicorns all be in one line art instead of the different awesome poses they are in now?

I am not a newer member but I voted yes. Sorry for ruining your theory.

We are not planning on having the "Tess horses" and "Malk Drafts" updated, since those lines were always considered separate from the standard monthly "horse and pony" releases and are intentionally unique.

The unicorns and donkeys will also be updated, but the unicorn lines are not finished yet.
