Please be aware of how demand controls value.
A pet's rarity determines its relative rarity. Demand is the only real value.

Very Rare is not worth more than OMGsr!
While i agree 1,000,001% with this, i also disagree. The game mechanics dictate otherwise. (now i say this with love and respect) Because the owner and developer do not allow the chickensmoothie community access to the information that would let us truly see the number of pets in circulation in the game in order to value them in an order based on their presence, nor do they themselves have a set order of values for the community to follow, it is literally left almost entirely up to the players. This is how we get new sets of store pets being auctioned off at low "list" values, and pets with low "list" values being auctioned off for sorbs and nons. It's literally just a game of "who will pay the highest price". All because everyone has the same "dreamies". Pets which are only "dreamies" because everyone is willing to overpay for them, meaning they have high value. Looks + rarity = demand.

Zebras are not worthless!

Tribals are not worthless!
β
Rats are not worthless!
Zebras. The only gifts you can randomly find at anytime. They're just not as great as dogs.
But even i don't like the designs of the tribals

they're just not very pleasing.
And even worse? The rats. First off, rats are just frequently seen as... sub-par in cuteness. They don't have a fantastic reputation, and a super rare rat is *almost* an insult.
No, they're not worthless. They're just not worth as much if less people want them. Would you trade a high value pet for a pet you didn't want? No, and you wouldn't have to. That's what the cancel and edit buttons are for. The amount people will offer for something is related to how much they want it. This is why auctions work so well, they just call for the highest offers from the people who want the pet most. This is how a pet goes from being valued as a low advent to being valued at 'sorbets' and 'nons', like the Black Advent.

Nick Blue Tox is worth more than Joker!

UR Apple is worth more than Joker!
Again, like with the black advent, the Joker is another one of those pets that has had ridiculous demand and caught ridiculous value because of it. Rarity wise it's not as valuable as a non dog, but if someone wants that Joker dog and decides that they don't want their non-jewel anymore, then guess what that joker is worth to them?
Yes, as a special release, the Apple is way different from the joker dog. It's
unreleased while at one point, the joker was actually an outcome from a monthly adopt. crazy. But if people don't like the look of their little apple once it starts to go bad, and people
do like the look of the joker dog, then guess which of the two very rare pets people will pay more for?
Supply isn't always demand.

Re-released pets has SAME rarity as True Dates!
Yep. Totally true. That means they have the same value, right? Unless of course, you are the person who is trying to get a complete collection, and are ocd enough to want your pets in a specific order, meaning you actually want the true date pet. You'll pay more for the true date so it will fit in with your collection! And if you won't, you will be waiting a longer time to try and find a true date that someone will trade off and ruin their collection. It's about how bad you want it.
Please be aware of how demand is causing the trading economy to crumble.
A pet's rarity determines its value. Demand is up to you.
It's not crumbling. That's just what happens. Values rise and fall. Yes, sometimes values rise up a little excessively and fall a little excessively, but things change all the time.
key points:
β
rarity β valueIf i want to offer a rare pet for a common pet, it's because i want that common pet more than i want to keep that rare pet. If someone else is offering a very rare pet for that common pet, then clearly a) they want it more, b) the common pet is worth more because people will take that very rare over the rare in exchange for the common pet, and c) people who are offering only a few uncommons for the desired common pet will have a harder time getting that pet. Everyone is trading it for a rare or very rare, so that common pet, which has a higher number of duplicates available as indicated by the rarity, is worth more because of the trades people are offering.
β
demand is up to youThese go hand in hand. If you like the pet, then you like the pet. Like it more than someone else? then you'll easily pay a higher price. If you don't? Then you'll be waiting a while longer until the people who will pay higher prices for the pet are satisfied and the trades tip back down in your favor.
β
Value is entirely up to the playersDon't like what you've been offered for your pet? Cancel or change the trade offer. Bam, done. The other person doesn't like what you've asked for in exchanged? Cancel or change the trade offer. It's all about communication. If they won't pay what you want in exchange for your pet, then they can find someone else. The great thing about chickensmoothie is the fact that custom pets aren't handed out willy-nilly. So yes, there will always be more than just that one pet. There will always be someone who A) pays a higher price, and B) accepts a lower price.
