One thing that might help you with drawing:
use layers. You have a box on the right side of the screen when you're drawing where it says "Layer 1". If you click on the + underneath it, you create a new, transparent layer. Try drawing the background on one layer, then create a new one and draw the ground on this layer and then another one for the sword. If you draw everything on seperate layers the colours don't mix and you wouldn't have to draw the Midgar silhouette "around" the sword but simply behind it. I hope...that's understandable...Best thing would be if you'd just try it out^^

But I'm so glad to see some Crisis Core fanart here!^___^
