I decided to fix this.
Chat Guidelines
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Basic Etiquette;;
- Refrain from text talk. Very few people understand you, and you come off as immature, sloppy, and lazy. This also applies to grammar and spelling.
- Be polite. Do not stir up drama in general. Let the mods take care of spats, and do not inflame things. It's quite probable that the person you're arguing with has friends on the chat, and then you'll have more than one enemy.
- Avoid guilt tripping. Do not complain about being a nonowner, do not complain about wanting a baby/adult/etc. You may be trying to get pity, but most people will feel disgust about how ungrateful you are. If you just lost a JBD, make one, maybe two posts about it, but keep it to a minimum. You could make the new owner feel bad.
- Only repost every 15-20 minutes. That's nice if it's your birthday, but every five minutes is a little too often to tell us about it. Perhaps we'd love to critique your form, but we're also trying out for that JBD. Just consider others. c:
- Keep caps, smileys, nonsense, and other spam to a minimum.
Now, you're probably wondering how to actually socialize with these real live people. They're totally strange. Somebody just fell out of the sky and glomped somebody and people are screeching and WOW that's a lot of people talking all at once. How do you get these people to talk to you?!
Socialzation tips;;
- Participate in Join.Me's. A lot of bonding goes on during JMs, because people are watching artists work their magic. Everybody is happy and open, and chatty. Just jump into the conversation ("Oh, I love the colors!"), and people should join in.
- Nobody bites. We're all friendly, just jump in. It's intimidating during the busy hours, but if you come in during slow times (generally after 9PM Pacific Time Zone), you can have a much slower chat.
- Offer critique/coding/art. People love to talk with anybody offering free services. I've found that since I say, "Post a link to a form that needs critique, any species, including adopts I'm trying out for," and give solid, lengthy critique, people talk to me. They know I'll give good critique, and they will talk to me when I post.
- If you do offer the services above... Make it good. Don't skimp any effort on it. Offering critique? Go in depth, correct spelling and grammar for them. Just a "It looks good," will make them feel good, but doesn't help them (which is the point of critique).
- Talk to the people that have posts getting skipped over. If somebody asks for help, help them. Maybe people are whispering them and helping, but help anyways. They'll be grateful to you.
Summary;;
- Do your best to improve the community. Make people surprised that you don't own a JBD. Don't be a downer, don't complain, and just do your best. Maintain a positive outlook, and put effort in. You'll have people saying hello soon enough c:
Most of these guidelines can be applied to the fanclub forum and Chicken Smoothie in general.
