well, recently a friend on cs told me of a book series called "uglies" by scott westerfeld. they were amazing, although i wouldn't recommend them to anyone under ten, twelve maturity.
basically it's about a futuristic america, and all the people are obsessed with becoming pretty. they live hating themselves until their sixteenth birthday, when they get their "surge" (surgery) and become beautiful. what the world doesn't know is that when people get the operation they also get lesions (scars) implanted in their brains that make them more submissive and stupid.
when i first picked up this book i couldn't put it down, and hope the product will be the same fore you.
