Color swatches: There is no premade tool. They are made individually.
You just change the size of the pen or pencil and make a dot or circle of black and erase inside it to make the "lines". To do that, make a black dot a size or 4 larger than the color swatch you want. Jot down the size of pen you're using, then go back and erase the dot inside with a 4 clicks smaller eraser. So, for example if you want color swatch dot that is size 10 red, and you want a black line around them, you'd use a size 14 black circle and a size 10 eraser (leaving a size 2 line all the way around). Make the size 14 circle, erase inside it a size 10 erasure so it's centered and there's a nice little empty spot, then make another layer of color below it and use the size 10 red color to color inside the black lines. Because you've created 2 layers, the black will be over the top of the red and will look like a red circle with black line around it.
You can do this with any shape of figure, color it black, then erase inside it for the "lines", then another layer with the color inside the black lines.
Before you start, a quick tip: With your oekaki open, go to the top of the page and hit "view." Then click on "floating mode" to bring your artwork outside of frame to view full size and for easier zooming.
Step 1. Create a new layer by hitting the plus sign over on the right. It will automatically be called "layer 2" because the white layer is layer 1. Name it "lines" if you want to? To name it, double click on the one that says "layer 2" and type in the name"
Grab either pen or pencil tool from toolbar. (Note, toolbar can be moved.)Place a size dot of whatever size color swatch you want in black on the canvas.
Grab eraser tool in 4 clicks smaller and erase out the center of the swatch circle leaving a size 2 line all around the circle.
Step 2. * Go down and click on layer 1 and then click plus sign again to create a new layer and name it "color" layer if you want to so you don't get mixed up on layers. this layer should be under the lines layer, not above it.
Step 3. Color in the dot whatever color. Because you've made the "lines" layer above the color, the color will color inside the lines and the lines will remain. .....Oops, I got outside the lines and/or color is wrong..... No worries, just erase what you don't want outside the lines, and then hit lock alpha the black because it is on another layer will remain intact. What you can do after lock alpha is clicked is to change the color and even if you color outside the box, it won't go outside because the color is "locked. Remember to un-click lock alpha if you want to proceed with more layers. Also remember do not erase with lock alpha clicked, it turns white and makes it very hard to modify your art.
4. To make other color swatches you would use the copy and paste function after your initial dot from step 1. So, if you need 4 dots for example, you'd go to the top left tool "crop" and crop the little dot you made in step 1. Then go to top and hit "edit" & then "paste". This creates a new layer right on top but you then use the little cross shaped tool on the top right in the toolbar to move the dot to the right or left or up or down. After you have dot number 2 in the place you want it, you go to the top, hit "layers" & "merge down". This merges dot 1 and dot 2 into 1 layer. Then repeat the process, crop the 2 dots, paste them, move them, then merge them. We now have 4 dots, repeat steps for more dots. In essence, you really want one layer with all the dots you need for all your color swatches.
I will post another about other things you've asked about.
