You can't hide
And you can't run.
You are my slaves,
No time for fun.
"When can we finish?"
Foolish little ones.
I'll let you off easy,
Just do this for me.
You'll be done
When you build me
A temple in the rising sun.

An orange Dragon sat in front of quite the assembly; he'd drawn a crowd using the propaganda that he was a king.
"How?" one of the admirers asked.
"What were you king of?"
"Why aren't you king anymore?"
The orange Dragon smiled dubiously. "Hush and I shall tell you.
"I was ruling over the most magnificent assembly one could ever know. I was king of the Aztecs, the most obedient group of humans and animals you would ever see. I was highly respected, loved, and adored. They listened to my every request, enjoyed my whims. They called me the greatest ruler they'd had."
A young boy spoke up, skeptical. "Yeah, right."
The Dragon's face twisted with rage. "How darest you speak against me?" he snarled, pausing his tale. "I will have you know, you insolent commoner, that I am born royalty."
The boy laughed but kept silent.
"As I was saying, I was revered. But, one blazing Summer day, I saw one of my slaves at rest. Sitting down on the job, if you'd like to say it that way. I sent a messenger down to him, but he refused to work. He demanded that I give him a 'break!' Preposterous, is it not?" He paused, expecting his audience to agree. They just stayed silent, a bit shocked at how ruthless he was. "I decided to make a deal with him," the Dragon continued. "If he and the rest of his lazy team could build a temple to me in a week, he'd be free for as long as he lived. I watched them day and night, and they did nothing but sit around. Occasionally, they would set some stones in a pile and call that their temple." He laughed cruelly. "But, no. I waited, but they wasted their days. When the final day came, they were frantic. They attempted to enlist others to help them, but I forbid it. When the sun finally set on the seventh day, they had nothing for me. So, I worked them harder and harder. Within just two days of this new treatment, they revolted. I, of course, had them all killed. But they..." He trailed off, h is voice chilled. "They haunted me. They continued to protest against my ways, even in their death. Day and night, they would yell, march, break things. I was nearly driven insane."
A few of the people left the room, unbelieving.
"Then, one night, I went to sleep and awoke to find myself in this new world. I know it is the fault of those spirits, they must have destroyed my world."
The children in the group clapped.
"I am still searching, though, for the remainders of my civilization. I know there must be something left for me to rule."
Some of those who'd been skeptical were now laughing. "That's one big fish tale!" one of them jeered.
"These are memories, that I know." the Dragon snarled. The man who'd spoken up stood. "Get out of here, you liar." he hissed. "Before I make you." He held his fists up.
The Dragon looked appalled. "How dare you defy me, threaten me, and attempt to rid of me with force?!"
"What're you going to do? Make me build you a fancy temple?"
The Dragon's face twisted in a malevolent grin. "Yes," He glared at everyone who remained. "All of you. You are all mine, now. You shall build me a temple, and have it finished when the sun rises in the morning. If not, you shall be punished by death."
The man gave a hearty laugh. "You think you could make us do something like that?"
"You just wait and see, sir. By sunrise, if there is nothing constructed in my honor, you will face your punishments."
At sunrise, Aztec watched the people as they slowly dropped, one by one. To this day it is unknown how he did it, but he kept his promise.

The story was supposed to be 'Twilight Zone'-ish. I guess it turned out well...? I'm not proud of it, but it came across as it was supposed to. Thanks for reading, and thank you for your consideration.
