there's many ways to do grass, but there's 2 ways I do grass. I use 4 or 5 layers smudged at the top edge of each up and down if It's quick. Or, if I want more detail I put in the same layers but take each layer and make the individual grasses. I pick one color of green and stay on that same color block going up and down for highlights and shadows. Occasionally I will use dodge and burn but rarely on grasses unless I use it on 1 or 2 size.
Grass, as does any other background, gets lighter and a tinge more blue as it goes further away, contrary to what most people do. The darkest more clear coloration with less blue or gray is in the foreground, greyer or bluer as you go further away.
The sky was just thrown together but with sky you do whatever blue you want (or gray if gloomy) and wherever the sun is will be lighter. So, if the sun is behind you for example, the horizon line would be the darkest but if the sun is over on the right, the left side would be darker like mine. mine has lots of clouds in it, overcast in an all over cloudy feeling, and it's not very sunny, but still brigher on the right where the sunshine would be.
Hope this helps anyone who wants to use it.
