- you’re just at the edges of a residential area, heading downtown, where the businesses have come together to throw a little halloween festival. you’re eager to go check it out, but there are only a few more houses to hit before you head down - and you’re not missing out on any candy!
you approach a house that looks to be part shop itself - a plant store - but it seems that’s closed for the night, and the porch light is on instead.
you ring the doorbell, excitedly looking on as the door swings open.
“trick or treat!” you exclaim, eyes landing on two kalons - one shorter and dressed as a vampire, the other, taller, one dressed as.. a businessman? you’re not quite sure what he’s supposed to be, actually. is he even in costume..?
the shorter one’s face sours. “aren’t you a little too old for trick-or-treating?”
“honey!” the taller one exclaims, pouting at his husband, and then turning back to you with a smile. “oh, just ignore him! everyone is welcome to trick-or-treat here. aspen’s just a bit of a sourpuss.”
the shorter one - aspen - flicks his ear, clearly annoyed, though you can’t help but notice a loving look in his eye.
“fine, fine,” aspen crossed his arms, and now he was the one pouting. “but don’t expect any treats from me. I only deal in tricks.”
the taller one muffled a laugh in his paws, earning a glare from aspen.
“aaron!” aspen exclaimed sharply, balling his fists as they flew to his sides.
“heh, sorry, honey,” aaron’s laugh died down, and he looked genuinely apologetic, though he still had a smile plastered on his face. “it was just a little bit silly.”
he turns back to you. “well, if he’s only giving out tricks, then I’ll give out the treats! there's plenty to go around, don't worry.”
aaron walks away, you assume to go grab a candy bowl, and you lock eyes with aspen. for a second he glares, but then his gaze softens.
"so, heading down to the festival? are you a fan of halloween parties, then?"
