- Because of Delta Velorum being so close to the gas giant, meteor showers are quite a common sight. Most showers are small and harmless - the comets burn up once entering the planet's atmosphere and doing nothing more then lighting up the sky on some nights. But others are larger and more deadly, raining down comets (ranging from fist size to SUV car size) that can do serious damage to the landscape and anyone in it's way.
