Some River in the Forest

What I learned from drawing this is that it's super hard trying to draw random foliage.

27 of them, but one layer has my sig and about 3 or 4 is just color adjustment, so it's actually about 22 or so. I definitely could've gone less though, I just always play it safe whenever I paint and make a bunch of layers in case I wanna change things around. I also forget to merge layers together, if I did, I could probs cut down the number of layers in half.

You did a really great job, though! I love the layers of rocks in the middle distance or so, on the right, and how step-py they look. Your use of colors/values really adds depth of field esp. to the foreground plants, too!

Foliage is a big challenge for me, and I should really try to practice it using references more! (I grew up in a place with not-so-many plants so... I have no idea what most of them look like. x: )

Also oh my gooosh so many layers! That's something I'll pull on lineart stuff more than painty things. I just... kinda forget I can layer and do most things on a layer or two. I'd love to see how you organize that sometime (although that sounds like a pain in the butt on your end tbh so feel free to skip that haha.)

I've been really digging your paintings since you got back from vacation! I just haven't been good about commenting r.i.p. me.

@faraday: Super glad to be back! It was terrible not being able to draw stuff for a few days, haha. I watched a lot of Bob Ross during travel times and it just made me wanna paint stuff.

@Fennekin: Thanks Fenn! Being an Oregonian, I'm basically surrounded by the green stuff. It's just... everywhere. I think that's why I draw forests bunch, haha.

I'd love to see how you organize that sometime

Oh man my organization is the worst, it's literally all over the place. I have layers for things that don't warrant being on their own, for example, the closest tree on the left is on it's own layer and I have no idea why. Anyways, that reminds me that I should stream sometime this week, I go back to school soon and I wanna stream before I do. So maybe I'll paint up a thing for peeps to watch.

@qwertyo Oooh gosh! Maybe that tree wasn't sure if he wanted to be there or not, or wanted to take a walk independent of the other trees! You never know with trees. What are they thinking.

I always like swinging by your streams so you can count me in if I catch you! And I wish you the best of luck with the upcoming semester oh my goodness.
