So, tonight, something randomly got created:
What if Earth isn't the only inhabitable planet? What if there are other intelligent life-forms out there? What if they're similar, maybe even related, to humans?
It was a normal day at school. We were all crowded around the lunch table; eating, chatting, laughing, playing, and just be nerdy teenagers in general. A squabble between band geeks and orchestra dorks, a complaint about how the chess team's victories were overlooked by the football team's losses, working together on that calculus homework no one could entirely figure out.
But, I didn't feel right. A yearning for my pets throughout the years came. The love, the affection, the fun. And then came the sensation of fresh air wipping at my face as I flew in the clean, refreshing air. My feathered wings were trusty and knew how to navigate, my fluffy tail acted like a streamer as I raced along, my ears were laid against my head to gain speed.
I could hear purring, and the sweet, milky scent of a cat dear to my heart wafted around me.
Everything went black.
When I woke I expected to see my human friends crowded around me, maybe a nurse and principal too. But that didn't happen.
"Mayleaf!" I felt my hand being squeezed.
My vision was blurred as I slowly turned my head toward the oh-so familiar voice. I could tell it was a male...a pink and orange and white fuzz. He leaned in and gently pressed his lips to my forehead. The gesture confused me. "You're not," my voice was weak, and as I spoke my vision finally cleared and everything came back to me, "Comet!"
His ginger hair and feline-ears and white feather crown were a large part what I had been yearning. This was not Earth, and I was not an Earthling; at least, I had not been born one.
Comet embraced me and sat on the bed next to me, "I've been visiting you everyday. I never gave up hope you'd come back to us."
I gazed at him and smiled, my heart filled with joy. I had often tried purring as an Earthling, but it had never been successful, and I tried it now, knowing it was possible, but due to my underused throat it was as successful as all my recent attempts.
There was another being in the area, working on a screen. While he did that, Comet and caught me up, "You were underwater too long. We got you out and put your body into stable condition, but you just wouldn't wake up. And then, one day the monitor went screwy and we could see and hear everything you did while you were in the other body. Over there, they're trying to make it so the other side will not get to see through you and learn about us. Scientists believe our species are relatives. We have the same base, afterall, and we both call ourselves humans too."
He saw what I saw, heard what I heard. "Did you see yourself?" I barely managed to ask.
He smiled, "I put myself there. Once we had the other world figured out all of those close to you popped in at some time or another in animal-form. I'll explain that to you later though; right now we have to tell the others you're awake."
I smiled and nodded.
I'd love comments on the idea. Oh, and also, the creatures do have hair and wear clothes; I just wanted a base, so I made layers for those, but didn't actually draw any.
