"Everyone says I'm unlucky, that's why I always carry him around." He lifts up his battered teddy bear to give you a closer look. It's old and worn and it's been stitched back together countless times over the years. "My mommy gave him to me when I was a baby before she went away. She said it would keep me to safe. So it just has to be lucky!" You reach to touch the stuffed animal. He snatches it back and gives you harsh look. His face goes blank as he looks at the bear, like he's concentrating on it. "Just be careful with him..." he mutters as he delicately puts it your hand like it's worth it's weight in gold. The bear is shockingly heavy and ice cold. You look at the teddy bear's blank stare. A sudden uneasy feeling runs through you, like you're touches a ghost. The cat boy has been staring at you the whole time, his stare making the eerie feeling even worse. He can read the shock on your face as you shut your eyes and try to keep your breathing steady. His eyes widen and he aggressively grabs the bear out of your hand. You can feel the fabric rip a little, revealing the oddly colored cotton inside. You pant and hunch over, trying to tame your erratic breathing. You hug your body to fend off the shivering you didn't notice was there. He turns away and hides the bear from you, his face pale and eyes wide. "I-I sorry, I shouldn't have let you touch him for that long." He seems to snap back from his somber expression and turns back to you, the bear behind his back. The cat boy sticks out his hand to you, "I like you." There's a glint in his eye. "I hope we can be friends," he smiles genuinely and you shake his small, freckled hand. "I'm glad you like me too," he seems so relieved, like he's going to cry. "I don't have a lot of friends... but I know we can trust you." Wait... did he say we..? His tail waves happily as he turns around and begins to run away from you, "I'll see you tomorrow!" His words sail over his shoulder as he disappears into a dark alley. You sigh and begin to walk away and hug yourself once more. You can still feel the bear's black eyes staring at you.
