Chryses' backstory:
He grew up in a small town along with this gang (+Lilly) but at some point during his early teens he ralized some pretty major things about his family and after some thinking he decided to run away without telling anyone but Lilly, his closest friend, and asking her to come too. You see, Chryses was born into a family of rank blue (upper class capable of high level magic use) but he is rank green (the lowest possible ranking), this is unusual but not unheard of. His family treated him as if he was of similare rank despite this but that only applied to him, anyone else of lower rank they would treat differently, worse, even if they where his friends, and they expected him to do the same.
Lilly refused to run away with him, she tried her best to make him stay but he had made up his mind. He left town but due to some misunderstandings and a dropped shoe the entire town thought he had fallen in the river and drowned.
After some time Chryses arrived in a bigger town to the north where he struggled to survive and eventually joined a gang that fight for equal rights, both race and magic ranks, but do so with very brutal tactics. This town is where his story eventually ends after the leader of the gang, Leroi, dies and Chryses is chosen to take his position, he changes some rules and when it doesnt go over well with some of the other members he is 'taken care of'.
context of this picture:
Years after leaving his home town Chryses is found and confronted by an old friend who informs him that everyone thinks he died, but having left that life behind he denies knowing this person and instead tells them that they must be mistaken, there is nobody there by that name. This is the truth as he changed the pronunciation of his name after moving towns.
the character in the back is a fellow member of the earlier mentioned gang, sosthenes, that emediatly recognized what was going on and decided to tell Chryses they should leave. I dont draw him enough...
