seriously tho. i am not a furry, i dont have a problem with them but its just not my thing to dress up in a fur-suit. if i cosplay it would only be for something like comic con (Avengers or a video game) and yes i know drawing anthropomorphic animals is considered being a furry but i dont think about it like that. that or i just dislike labels.

you don't have to identify as a furry if you don't want to - I questioned the label myself, especially with all of the negative rep due to a very bad, select few who ruin things for the rest of us - but I personally identify as a furry because I draw anthros a lot and have a non-human sona. I don't have fursuits, I don't go to furry cons, I just,,,,,like drawing my anthro ocs and giving them unique personalities and backstories ;v; that, in essence, is what being a furry is, not necessarily more than that.

I know someone with a full fursuit who doesn’t identify as a furry. It’s just a group of people with similar interests that you can join or not join if you want. Liking video games doesn’t make you a gamer, same with furry.

For the ‘bad rep’, that isn’t a big thing anymore. I’ve done both cons and public suiting(I’m at the second largest con right now even), and I’ve never had that reaction. Even the times I went to my local 4th of July fair all the parents just shoved their kids at me for pictures, they thought nothing weird about it. It’s only ‘weird’ if you purposefully go into those parts of the fandom. Yeah, you’ll have screw ups like the nazi fur who got arrested at the con yesterday(it was pretty funny though, there was a separate incident around the same time so there was an ambulance, police, and fire truck all there and we were just walking into the Hyatt at the time but couldn’t stay to watch because we had to get to a panel), but that’s not commonplace.

It’s a great group of people, we’ve raised 3 million dollars for charity, and it’s the most open and accepting group I’ve ever met. It may not be for everyone, but it’s bad rep is going away and it’s just group of lovely people who like colorful animals.

ouch that hurt I am a proud furry with two fursuits yet I do see where you are coming from. It’s not everybody’s thing to dress up in fur covered foam and act like animals all day I get it. I do lobe your art and please don’t stop drawing in your anthropomorphic style because people assume you are a furry. Because your so talented and good at it!

like ive said before, i think its fine to be a furry i have nothing against it ^^ the only reason i personally dislike being called a furry is that of the bad rep, my family and friends do not understand that being a furry is more than just the fur-suit thing and i find it easier to just not label my self a furry, then to explain how it doesnt always mean i do cringy things. i know a lot of people who think the fur-suit thing is weird but personally, i think if its not hurting anyone and if it makes you happy go for it. i also dislike labels so thats a big factor in it <3
