i am NOT a furry...

Postby Happily Wrathful » Sun Dec 03, 2017 2:02 am

Says while drawing a fluffy alien sona

seriously tho. i am not a furry, i dont have a problem with them but its just not my thing to dress up in a fur-suit. if i cosplay it would only be for something like comic con (Avengers or a video game) and yes i know drawing anthropomorphic animals is considered being a furry but i dont think about it like that. that or i just dislike labels.

hey dont worry :) i draw cartoony anthromorphic lizards and animals all the time because im a cartoonist. people call me ‘furry’ and ‘scalie’ all the time. and i agree it does kind of suck. :( not because i hate them, but because im just not one of them and dont really want to be. so just know, youre not alone. :)

i agree, honestly, i dislike being called a 'furry' because people associate that with some people dressing up in fur-suits and then proceed to do things cringy or embarrassing in them, i think its fine as long as they aren't hurting anyone but its got a rather bad rep to it. i wouldn't mind being called a furry if it weren't so associated with that, if it just meant drawing animals antho-like.

i think being furry generally means someone interested in animal characters with human-esque characteristics, having fursonas and such, not just wearing fur-suits or animal cosplay? but if you dont want to be labelled a furry thats fine :')

like i said before i only dislike it because its gotten so much bad reputation. if i went around telling my friends and family i was a furry i would get laughed at or shunned because of how little they know about the meaning, i also am really weird i dont like labels X3

i know the feeling! i have a cartoonish style and i sometimes just cannot get one thing right and it looks kind of, well, anthropomorphic! i also add human characteristics to animals, which is the literal definition of anthropomorphizing!

I like anthro animals as well, but hate the 'furry' label, due to all the cringe you mentioned that is associated with it. :') Love your art, though.

I agree with this, most furries don't actually have fursuits or cosplay.

P r e a c h

My main character is an animal wearing clothing, and because of that people always assume I'm a furry.
The thing is, it isn't even an anthropomorphic animal either, just an animal in clothing that can talk.
I would say it's my fursona for lack of better word, but don't consider myself a furry personally, and really don't know what to refer to it as otherwise, as it was intended as a representation of myself :')

i draw anthros constantly but its simply because i enjoy how they are styled i also add animal characteristics to humans. honestly i think its because of our fascination with things other then ourselves, always wanting to be like something we are not. lol

lmao i get that too, since my sona technically isn't an anthro animal its not considered a furry or anthropomorphic animal. not to mention when i was in public school my friends used to tease me about being a furry for drawing animals all the time "animals with clothes and accessories"
i just call my Sona's well, sonas. at first i called them fursonas but that led to more confusion on whether i was a furry or not so i just started calling them sonas, i think its short for fursona or persona but im not sure.
