Awww, what a sweet little picture. I thoroughly understand your reasoning, too. ^-^
However I would just like to offer an oppinion, if you don't mind. :3
I think that it's a case of 'if we all went around being sad about every person on the earth that's suffering, we'd go around in a constant depression'. When you hear about things that happen, you get sad, but though it's not that we don't CARE, I think it's better for people not to get upset over all the people that we simply can't do anything about. The earthquake and tsunami in Japan where terrible, terrible disasters. But, 8 months later, only THEN do I ACTUALLY realise what happens. While seeing footage on the television of what happened when the tsunami washed over, I actually saw a person, in a car, banging on the window desperately as the tsunami swept the car away. It was terribly distressing, but only then did I really truly feel something for what happened. It's a matter of understanding what you can see and blocking out what you can't, for the greater good. Like I said, it doesn't mean we don't care, it simply means... That we try not to think about it.
tl;dr
For our own good, we can't get upset by everything that happens in the world.
I hope you understood all of that blubber. xD Either way, this picture is so sweet, and the cause behind it is to be admired. <3
