tongues and teeth by the crane wives reminds me alot of akari's character arc, or at least the beginning of it; she blames her partner Miyo's death on herself, creating this false sense of self as someone destructive, or someone who only brings ruin, and for a very long time holds onto that ideal. eventually she learns to forgive herself but it's definitely a journey
