Like saving, but harder

Bluh bluh... This thing has like 30 layers and I haven't even started the real painting part yet... sigh. It's getting posted so I can trim without fear.

Handy guide to drawing feathered wings: on the inner side, the part of the feather closer to the body is fully visible; on the outer, the reverse. The 'arm' of the wing is U-shaped, while the outer part is shaped like a flipper. Join the seams precisely. The upper edge of the wing is much thicker than the lower! It's not even! Finally, there are about two rows of distinguishable feathers, plus some more that tend to visually blend together over top of that. Remember these facts and you'll be drawing more convincing wings than Raphael. But not Durer...

If you try to copy this pose, you will be very sad unless you're drawing someone who's been neatly sliced in half. (...The faint shadow on the roof gives a better idea of what the sketch looks like than the sketch itself with a multiply layer over, which is frankly mystifying.)
