So he has a load of living siblings(lived with a flock of similar human-avian hybrids) and they sometimes come to visit him. He's a spirit who lives in the mountains.
He froze to death. By the time anyone realised what was wrong, it was too late to do anything. They'd been flying around the mountaintops for a while searching for a suitable place to rest in. He's the runt of the litter; scrawny, weak and mute. His main strength was in his agility and ability to solve complex problems.
He's a little timid, because he struggles to communicate with those around him sufficiently, and this results in frequent misunderstandings. He generally won't want to cause any trouble for anyone, and since he died, he has haunted the mountain range where he froze to try and prevent the same thing from happening to others.
